Global Handwashing Day at Dian Didaktika Kindergarten Islamic School

One program of our special event in 2011 is Global Handwashing day.The celebration of this day was aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of handwashing with soap as a key approach to disease prevention..The celebration that which take place on October 15 each year, was held in Dian Didaktika Kindergarten Islamic School.

Global handwashing Day is a campaign to motivate and mobilize millions around the world to wash their hands with soap.It was made at the annual World Water Week 2008,which was held in Stocckholm from August 17 to 23.The Global Handwashing Day took place for the first time on October 15,2008, the date appointed By UN General Assembly in accordance with year 2008 as the International Year of Sanitation.Why Global Handwashing day focuses on children, because The children also can be powerfull agents for changing not only do they suffer disproportionately from diarrheal and respiratory diseases and deaths,but research shows that children can also be powerfull agents for changing behaviors like handwashing with soap in their communities.

We celebrated Global Handwashing day in two days.And our activities are:

The first day:

-Sing the songs together about how important is handwashing.

-Students of Dian Didaktika Playgroup and Kindergarten Wash hands together.

The second day:

-Watching short drama.

short drama that roled by teachers was watched by students enthusiastically. Before,we introduce the equipments of washing hand like soap, water and towel.the story tell about a girl that was lazy, washes her hands.So the germ attack her. Many students look scared with the germ figure,they impressed and commented,they would wash their hand so the germ wouldn’t attack them.

 -Watching movie

This movie tell about how important handwashing and keep the body clean.
